Procedure

Install WireGuard or OpenVPN client

Install a WireGuard and/or OpenVPN client from official downloads or package managers, then verify with wg --version when WireGuard tools are installed (or launch the GUI client).

  1. WireGuard (preferred modern client): install from https://www.wireguard.

Windows: installer or winget install -e --id WireGuard.WireGuard . macOS: App Store WireGuard app and/or brew install wireguard-tools . Linux: apt/dnf/pacman install wireguard (or wireguard-tools) elevated as needed.

  2. Optional OpenVPN client: download from https://openvpn.net/client/ (or C

Or: macOS brew install openvpn ; Windows winget install -e --id OpenVPNTechnologies.OpenVPN ; Linux apt/dnf install openvpn. Import a .ovpn profile from your VPN provider after install.
